Vorelco Designed and manufactured Model 435 4 channel Fiber Optic based Transmissometer
Dyn-Optics Model 435-2 Two Channel Transmissometer measures the transmission of film at two positions across a web at a selected wavelength or spectral band in a continuous coating installation. The instrument then compares the measured transmission with the desired transmission and computes an error signal that is proportional to the difference between the measured and desired values. The error signal is used to control the coating rate in order to achieve a minimum error. The error is positive or negative depending if the desired transmission is greater or less than the measured value.
The digital meters display the desired transmission and the measured transmission for Channel 1 and Channel 2. The error between the desired and measured transmission for each channel is also displayed. The instrument outputs at the rear an analogue voltage proportional to the desired transmission the measured transmission and the error signal. The measuring optics are connected to the remainder of the unit by fiber optics. With Desired Transmission Input and Error Signal Output
The instrument can be used in applications in air or within a vacuum chamber. The purpose of the instrument is to control the deposition rate of the coating in a production coating plant so that the actual measured transmission matches the desired transmission as closely as possible.

The Model 435-3 Three Channel Transmissometer with tolerance watch measures the transmission in three channels and at a selected wavelength or band. The instrument is intended to be used in the continuous coating operation either in a vacuum chamber to monitor the coating transmission or in the QC laboratory to verify that the transmission is within prescribed limits.
The transmission is also shown on a digital meter for each channel. The transmission measuring components are connected to the signal processing electronics by fiber optics. The output of the instrument is an analogue voltage for each channel that is proportional to the transmission.
The upper and lower acceptable tolerance limits are entered and displayed on digital meters. If the transmission measured falls within the window defined by the upper and lower tolerance limits, then the instrument does not output a signal. If the transmission in one or more channels is outside of the allowed transmission window, then the out-of-tolerance light flashes for the channel or channels that are out-of-tolerance. Furthermore, when an out-of-tolerance condition exists, then a signal is provided that can be used to sound an alarm or otherwise alert the operator that an out-of-tolerance condition exists.

Vorelco designed and built Dyn-Optics Model 5400 Transmissometer
The Model 5400 Transmissometer. This instrument is 10 inches wide, 8 inches deep and employs an electronically chopped LED as the illumination source. Various wavelength LED's or a white light LED are available as illumination sources. In addition, a white light LED projects onto the stage to define the area being measured. The instrument has a decade gain of XI, X10 and X100 so that small values of transmission can be measured.
