Fire Finder II

Fire Finder II designed and built by Vorelco

The Fire Finder is a Hand held Infrared fire detection instrument used by Firefighters and the military. The unit above left left was the original FireFinder that was big, bulky, and utilized dated components. The original Fire Finder used a pair of 9 volt radio batteries which are the worst possible choice for any important technology. The 9 volt battery was designed for transistor radios back in the 60's and was never intended for demanding applications like a hand held fire detecting device like the fire finder. The unit on the Right was designed and built by Vorelco. As an all surface mount design using micro power technology product development with considerably more sensitivity running on readily available AA cells it remains today one of the world’s most advanced devices of its kind and is deployed by both civilian and military fire departments, even at sea with the U.S. Navy.

"The Fire Finder II is an infrared heat sensor used by the fire protection industry to locate fires and hot spots. The Fire Finder II has been sold worldwide. We are developing a new smaller design. We have been making Fire Finders since 1978.
Unfortunately the Firefinder was already on the market and considered prior art at the time of the filing making the patent fraudulent and subject to invalidation.
Fire Finder's infrared heat sensor will detect a small hot spot that the firefighter's eyes may miss - even through a glass window. Operates in full sunlight or in a dense smoke filled room. Gives an instantaneous audible alarm where the pitch is proportional to temperature of the hot spot or fire and indicates the way to the fire area without demanding any eye attention.
The Model 955 FIRE FINDER II is a self-contained, hand-held infrared sensor that emits an audible alarm when pointed at a heat source. The hotter the source, the higher the pitch of the alarm in real time.
Includes audible self-test to indicate condition of batteries and electronics.
